This house was built by the Reverend Jasper
Adams, the first president of Geneva College. It was sold in 1829 to William
Kirtland who maintained a boys’ school in a wood structure across the street.
Bishop De Lancey rented this house for 14 years. Federal characteristics include
the square lights and lintels of the windows.
