606 Rumney-Stoddard House, Eclectic, 1808, Rebuilt 1830
This residence was built for John Rumney, but
burned and was rebuilt by Robert Stoddard, an attorney. In 1827 Stoddard built a
small brick office across the street on Garden Lot 29. That office, having
undergone many additions, is used as an apartment building today. Number 606
underwent several major changes since its Federal beginnings, including most of
the decorative elements like the center Palladian window, and the classical
porch. |
